“We rent all the stations to the best stylists in the Scottsdale area because at Primo we believe education is the key to success!!”
Dona started her cosmetology career in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1983. After school, she worked as an assistant at Gidding Jenny for Glemby International. There, Dona thrived as an educator and became both a color educator for Loreal as well as a haircutting educator for Glemby International.
Good teachers never stop learning, so she continued to take classes and learn the latest cuts and color. During one workshop, Dona met Scott Cole, the International Creative Director for Glemby at the time. Little did they know, they would end up working together.
When Dona left Glemby, she worked for Toni & Guy Academy as an educator, Perma of Paris as a platform artist and Color Cutting USA as an educator and Platform Artist. Her experience at Color Cutting USA allowed her to travel the US and work with distributors of many different lines of product, including Loreal, Clairol, Aveda and Paul Mitchell.
In 1996, Dona moved to Scottsdale to continue her role as an educator—this time at the Scott Cole Academy. She taught advanced educational classes about new, creative color and cut techniques to stylists from around the world.
Later, she became a platform artist for Paul Mitchell on the corporate team and traveled both domestically and internationally to Canada, Puerto Rico and Brazil.
At the same time, she was continuing to work ‘behind the chair’, take classes and go to hair shows around the world to further her career.
She returned to Arizona and worked at Par Exsalonce. Gradually, she went on her own to other salons in the valley while pursuing her dream of finally opening her own: Primo Studio.
